This week a video poem...

Ceramic

There’s a wall curving
straight through our hearts.
There’s always a wall.

Each brick was carefully
placed in the wall that
curves through our hearts.

Knuckles were skinned
nails torn, hearts broken.
Men have died building

the wall that curves straight
through our hearts. And
the path along the wall.

We gather the children there
to celebrate our wall building,
to teach them our wall building

skills; to tell them the history
of the wall that curves straight
through our hearts, to keep it

in good repair. For without
the wall’s curving, how would
they know which path to follow?

Stay close to the wall. Keep
away from the open land
beyond. The wall keeps us safe.

The wall curving straight
through our hearts
keeps us all safe.

Thank you for listening/reading. Feel free to…
